Celebrities, Their Talents, and Their Salaries
Celebrity! A noun that will never run out of sparkles when spoken among the teenagers. A special attractiveness will always be there when we talk about celebrities. Their lives seem so beautiful with their talents, luxurious stuffs, and a big amount of money that easily flow into their pockets. Those things establish a strong-teenager-thought about how great a celebrity life could be. Anyway, knowing those great things about them, have you also ever thought to consider more about the payments they get? About that they get a-too-big-amount of salary? Well, Ihsan Tarore and Shireen Sungkar are the examples of the celebrities that get things too much as they deserve to.
Muhamad Ihsan Tarore or commonly called Ihsan, is the winner of the 2006 Indonesian Idol, which was the 3rd that was held. All that time he had sung the songs in the Indonesian idol, I hardly remember ever had enjoyed his performance. His voice is far away from delightful to hear, but still he won the contest. Yeah, SMS determined everything in that time. They who had voted for him must had seen him only because of his handsomeness. He got more than Rp.1 million rupiah from that contest, not included the Suzuki Swiff that he also got. So, great things given to a singer who couldn’t sang properly, isn’t that injustice? Not that I don’t appreciate human rights, but it has been the singer’s obligation to entertain the listeners. How could it be done if the singer itself can’t sing well? Many people believe this either about Ihsan.
Besides Ihsan, Shireen Sungkar is also a bad singer to be heard. She started her carrier as an actress but then widen it to the music industry with her sister. She might have her father’s (which is Mark Sungkar, also an actor) blood to be a professional actress, but not to be a singer. I never enjoyed listening to her music because her voice never could cheer me up. From the album she and her sister had released, a big amount of money became her property. Again, many people believe the same thing about Shireen. She is a good actress, but not a good singer. I believe that she could have done something she was really good at besides singing.
This happens not only to the Indonesian celebrities, but many others from the other countries. It’s wondrous to have some talents and share them with other people, make works with it so other can enjoy it. Yet it is wondrous no more when you push yourself too hard into something. These celebrities had given something that they’re not good at and get an amount of income they should not get. I mean like, only because you win a contest based on SMS while your voice is bad, you get millions of rupiahs. That’s not fair for they who are really good in this sector but get a far lower payment. Let’s give people our best works, show them that we’re not the person who do things a half way only. Let’s create things and get the payments as we should get.
